This is tired Weem.
Tired from my first long day of riding in 2015 and tired of seeing so many other road users making calls, texting or checking their social media feeds and being powerless to stop them.
If only we could report blatant mobile phone use to the police…. or can we?

It was a great day oot, but it’s ass munchers like the guys in this video that can ruin your ride … or worse.

    Encountered some guy with the same syndrome driving an Audi jeep on my channel…Mototriker pointed me towards uploading to Met police (they have a dedicated website). The only downside is you have to upload two minutes prior and two minutes afterwards. So don’t do anything incriminating 🙂

    I have spoken to the police about submitting footage and even if there isn’t enough evidence to prosecute I know they have been to people’s houses to give them a warning based on my footage. I was told for them to take it forward for prosecution in regards to phones they would need clear footage of the phone being used, the person using it and the reg etc of the vehicle and this would need to be longer than a few seconds to show it was ‘use’ and not a glance

    Police Scotland……ra polis ……. won’t accept any footage unless it involves an accident. Due to corroboration rules here you would need to appear in court even if they did. People on phones pi**es me off too but not enough to waste days in court. On a happier note biking weather has come to Scotland. Don’t need to live vicariously through you for another few months.

    I tried to give the police some footage of phone users, but they said that they would need to get hold of the actual phone to prove it was being used at that time.

    Texting is definitely worse than talking as eyes are required in addition to hands. I would only report if the driver was extremey dangerous and could have an accident at any moment. Nothing wrong with showing or voicing your disapproval in a calm and polite way though. I don’t think we should go running to the police every time someone does something illegal on the roads.

    Summer! Woooooohooooo ☀️ 😀 Hate people who use their phone! I mean how hard is it to pull over in a safe spot to use your phone?!? Why on the road? I thought Police would allow this because its money for them? Doesn’t make sense if you cant report phone use with footage :O

    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really don’t get how anybody can think that their life is so important that they just have to text/call/update social media whilst driving, all the while putting other people at risk.Just because you haven’t had an accident yet, doesn’t mean you won’t, it’s just a matter of time!

    I heard the same thing about submitting evidence. It’s just stupid really, if you have a reg no of the car, a face and clear video of them on a phone why should you not be allowed to use it?Ride safe mate.

    It should be a straight ban if people are on the phone when driving, the number of times people have almost run into me or cut me up because they weren’t paying attention.Not sure if the police can use the footage but surely it can’t hurt to take it in and ask?
