Miggs7170: Why I Ride A Motorcycle

I often get asked why I ride. Most times I’m not able to articulate the reasoning, so I thought it was about time I figured it out. Done in more of a music video style, I fancy myself a better writer than speaker, so I hope you don’t mind a bit of a monologue. Let me know if you enjoy it.

What do i feel when i ride a motorcycle? But firstly, why cars seem to loose the freedom comparison, everytime?Makes no sense to me, since i own both, and i manage to get the thrill of the road in both of them.Take your car for a long drive, but choose the soundtrack of your trip, as carefully as you choose the road.Pave a way, set a mood, build transitions, create musical landscapes. And you´ll feel it too. When i´m inside this mindset, it feels to me as soloing an electric guitar over some good old rock n´roll. It makes me grin. A lot. It´s that child´s sense of awe for each note that flows the right way.So, it doesn´t really matter wether it´s car or bike.Riding just seems to make it more… immediate, that´s all.A simple commute can be a buzz. But that´s all.The “cagers have no freedom” crap makes absolutely no sense to me.I drive. And it clicks to me too.I just “play them notes”… and let go..

I’m in my early 60’s and back riding again after 30 years. You put into words exactly how I feel now. Thanks. And a mental note to myself… I’m not giving up riding again. Can’t afford to waste anymore time.

This video is awesome. You exactly described that feeling. Too bad, so many people will never discover this feeling, because they are to afraid of getting hurt. Instead they’ll continue to live their boring life. Ride safe brother!

Although the “narration” aspect of this video was a bit blah, the content was good. I connected personally with the idea of “taking the long way home, after a particularly difficult day at work.” Few, in cars, can relate to that statement, but many bikers will. The unfortunate part of that scenario, is that “I” find that if I don’t think about what I’m doing, on the bike, it can be problematic. Yes, I do much in “automatic” mode when I ride, but still. I catch myself in stupid mistakes. Car drivers get distracted by cellphones, eating, whatever………..but it’s possible on a bike too.

“……..After a long day at work, I decided to take the long way home.” I can sure relate to that statement. I’ve been known to do that, for that reason!!

Im 13 ( not of age to drive road duh ) and ive been riding dirt for a couple years, and after spending my first month riding, i automatically told my self as soon as im of age im getting my license and a supermoto,a single month of riding and i was addicted, the feeling of riding with friends is the best, but the idea of being able to ride everyday, coming back from school, going to school, just going to a friends house, the idea of having everything as an excuse to ride, not like dirt riding where its more of an exception, the world of motorcycles just seems so appealing to me, its seems like a beautiful place and a beautiful way of life. BUT NOW BECAUSE OF YOU I WANT TO RIDE EVEN MORE I HOPE YOURE HAPPY BECAUSE YOU SHOULD BE.

  • Mega Chipzy

that’s definetly a thumb worth. so bad that i’m able to understand every single word you say, cause i’m german and not that good in english course ^^ i’m so proud that i did my license this summer and become such so nervouse when i sit on my bike and start the engine, but it just feels so great when the unsafe feeling disappears 😉 feeling the wind and the angle when you drive through a corner is just great. even the sound of rain dripping of the helmet and jacket can be so hypnotizing.it’s the passion of riding on two wheels that combines every bike, no matter which kind of bike he is rivding.love it 🙂

  • T100boy
