My first ever rant … Woot!
Ok, so it’s not a rant, but more of an observation that I’ve picked up on in recent months πŸ™‚

For the record, I’ve not been a direct target (that I know of) to these comments, but I’ve heard it said about others and so I thought I’d share my perspective in a video. This is in some way a response to some other vloggers that have expressed similar feelings or said they’re struggling to cope with the volume of interaction.

Note: Next time, I’ll leave the satnav off πŸ˜‰
Damn … she didn’t shut up once and made it hard to concentrate, so this vlog is a bit more jittery to the norm πŸ™‚
Concentration derailed ….. then a plane crashed into it …. and then it blew up …. :p

I don’t get it either. I’m doing it for the fun of it, not the sub count. I try to respond to everyone because I want the interaction. When it stops being fun I’ll stop doing it. I make stickers but I give them away, I don’t sell them. It would be quite a task to make any decent money from them anyway.Nice video.

  • TheCrazymook 7 years ago

I don’t get people who put down on those with less subs.. although I say that but I haven’t seen it in our awesome community! As you said mate its only effing YouTube =)I haven’t bought any stickers from anyone, I have been thinking about it though….

  • Mike Brady 7 years ago

In this video you drive past my road. Finchampstead and the surrounding areas have a tonne of good roads. Perfect for biking!! πŸ™‚

  • Scott Harman 7 years ago

And this is why you are followed by your loving subs! Long time no speak mate. Still enjoying your vids mate! Peace!

  • AdjrianNickelodeon 7 years ago

I’ve got more subs that you and I’m sweet to chat bro πŸ™‚ What you’re saying rings soooo damn true for me.. Fast growth has been completely overwhelming for me. there’s a fine line between still keeping in contact with my kids and actually trying to get some editing done. It does get tougher with steep growth but I’m hoping I havent lost my original goal to just make people smile. I’m at 15k subs ATM and I haven’t monotized a single video…yet. Eventually I think there is money to be made from anyone that wants to contribute to the Nickelodeon bike registration/insurance fund.. lol. PS: Why the hell aren’t I sub’d to you!! You’ve been running around in my comments section for months!! Thanks for the support my man! \(^_^)/

  • Blade Baron 7 years ago

I do agree with what your saying on people who start to ignore new subscribers. There’s nothing worse when someone comments on a vid and yet most of the vids a vlogger has made and yet gets no response due to lack of subs themself. Yet they respond to the vloggers with a fairly good number of subs.Half of the time I think its ego and the other half is prob they haven’t got time to reply. They might just reply to a couple and that’s it so why enable the comments section on a vid if they can’t be bothered to respond. I try and search out small sub counts and give them a sub for support as at least you get decent replies to their vids.Ride safe buddy

  • Quentin Redbeard 7 years ago

I hope you never look down on me.. unless you’re wearing thigh boots and holding a whip :DHow tall are the trees at 5:00?! :oI actually haven’t bothered with stickers A. because I haven’t been bothered to actually do it.. and B. Because I can’t possibly make people pay for a sticker from me, I’d end up just sending those bad boys out free.. and I can’t financially front a bunch of stickers (as well as my Vanilla Crown addiction). Anyone who does, fair enough! Those who complain about it like people are cashing in, I bet that doesn’t stop or worry them when they are buying bullshit from multi billion pound companies πŸ™‚

  • Beast Rider 7 years ago

Super insightful. Loved it. And the “Fan first – Vlogger second” bit… I get it. I feel the same way. Bravo, sir.

  • Pedro Neves 7 years ago

You don’t answer back?! Shame on you mate! :PJokes aside, already got a job? You scared some people when you said you would dare sell the “machine”.

  • The Infamous Biker 7 years ago

“If you make stickers, I’ll probably be first in line to get one” I’ll hold you to that if I ever make some. Not that you’ve subbed me or anything haha. You better reply to this comment or I’ll think your an arrogant douche. Obviously. πŸ™‚ Joking aside, I personally think that if someone wants to make stickers, and others want to buy them, then what’s the problem? You’re not forcing anyone. But hey, haters gonna hate. They just like to get sand in their fanny and have a cry.

  • CapeVoice 7 years ago

I’ve experienced this first hand, I’ve had good growth, but I’ve had drama created due to people thinking that because I have more subs that I’m better than them or too big for my britches. I cannot respond to everyone and I cannot talk to everyone, but I try my best. I’m not better than anyone actually, it doesn’t matter. It’s Youtube for fucks sake. With the stickers and monetization, bikes cost money to maintain. We are out, spending our own money for our viewers enjoyment. They pay nothing to view us or watch us. What motovloggers do with their proceeds are entirely up to them. I don’t get the mentality that people are so taboo towards motovloggers on having their stickers and merch for sale. It’s one thing to have them, it’s another to shove it down subscriber’s throats. I was nagged on for having stickers, when I spent my own money on them and using my own money to send them out. Another thing, just because someone doesn’t have that many subs, not associating with them? That doesn’t even matter. You hang out with good people, sub count has no bearing on what kind of person they are. Me for example, I only have around 1500 subs, but C2W takes the time to talk to me every once in awhile, or AridersLife. Again, it’s about talking to people you can connect with, not the sub count. At the end of the day, I don’t care about your sub count, I don’t care about your views, I care about if you’re a good person. If you’re not, that’s your problem. I’m here because I love what I do, to make wonderful and meaningful relationships with other vloggers and try to connect with my subscribers. This is a blast, and people need to stop being so over critical. It’s fucking Youtube.

  • Beyond x Sanity 7 years ago

I’m a bit of a sticker whore…. If I see a sticker and its a vlogger I enjoy watching, I am 99% likely to buy. To me it’s a more tangible way of showing my support and appreciation of their content. I could honestly care less whether they keep the money themselves or donate it, that’s their choice as much as it was mine to buy the stickers

I am a rider first – friend second – and motovlogger third. I totally agree with everything you just said and I’m glad you said it. You want to talk while I ride from now on? haha

  • Skeggy Cruiser 7 years ago

I like what your saying buddy, I sincerely hope people don’t think I’ll change, lol, just realised that made me sound a bit presumptuous, I’m not envisaging me becoming one of the big boys or girls, as far as the stickers are concerned I don’t buy stickers because I can’t afford to, some people don’t realize just how much it costs to send the stickers out via the post, bloody extortionate, Good vid, weeem RSMF.

  • HeatSeekingMissiles 7 years ago

Were you travelling down the A308 today around 1:00pm towards the Sunbury Junction?

  • 2ndchildhood 7 years ago

Love what you said. I comment because I think I have something useful or entertaining to offer. I don’t expect a reply, but it’s reinforcing to get one. I just hope the people whose video I enjoy have the time to keep making and posting them. Sometimes, the priority of one’s real life asserts itself, as it should. That said, this motovlog community is fantastic and (not surprisingly) supportive of all of its members.

  • Toobi-wan Onroadi 7 years ago

Agreed, theres no need for any attitude at all. Your channel your choice. Buy ’em or don’t. Instead of firing up, unsubscribe if the channel or its direction bothers you that much. Crazy! New to all this and starting to see a darker side, visor down to haters. Stickers for me weather the funds stay with channel creator or a charity is for me a way to show support, respect and appreciation for hard work in the effort. I’ll be hitting that link to ya stickers WeeemRCB. Theres a wall in the shed to fill and I intend to do just that. RSM8

Really enjoyed this video fella – it’s nice to hear someone actually speak up about it. My channel is tiny and I try my best to reply to everybody but sometimes I just can’t and I know that there are some comments dotted around that I won’t have noticed for whatever reason and I feel slightly guilty about it. Christ knows what it’s like for people like the Baron!

  • Shane Bro 7 years ago

This is the first video I saw from you. Someone I have been watching for a while liked this and I came over to take a look. Sure like what you said and I do agree. I have been thinking of starting to vlog for a while (snow is stopping me). Making me think about what I really want to do. I am a fan first, sure like watching people ride where they live – it is so amazing that I am seeing parts of the world I have never seen before. I am going to subscribe and keep watching!

  • lukethekanefan 7 years ago

yea weeeem you ignored 999 comments of mine and I think your too big all the millions of pounds of you tube money have gone to your head and your sticker enterprise is out of order good day

  • vancouveride 7 years ago

Good to know that you’ll still read my comments despite having so many more subs than I. πŸ™‚

  • CaptainCranky 7 years ago

only one flaw in what you said… kind-hearted people don’t make money, lol. :)With almost 300 subs I already feel I’m struggling to keep up with them all. So far I can respond to all comments but I am sadly not able to watch all the vids of people I have subbed back to.Good discussion mate.

  • Bad Atheist 7 years ago

Stickers? Didn’t realise people were making stickers! We should collect them all on a wall of fame style collecting point!

  • Beaver 314 7 years ago

  • Samurai H 7 years ago

Very well said. Its kind of frustrating when you watch a video and not even a smile you have in return :(Better to have less but good ones and try to reply to all the comments. i also understand that if you have thousands of comments you will have lots of work to comment to all of them but “Copy and Paste will do”Speaking of Decals did seen one from yourself somewhere and it looks sweeeeeeet and it would look very nice on my collection ;)Very good topicThumbs up

  • Picklepoo 7 years ago

I’m too lazy to do stickers plus I have no idea how a post office works. It’s a great community and I know I’m the bright star at it’s centre.

  • SpottyCat666 7 years ago

You talk an awful lot of sense there mate. The people who slag off those who make a bit of cash from you tube are all expecting to be paid when they go to work tomorrow, so why should you not make a bit from making videos. Its quite simple really….Ride safe.

  • Bran7701 7 years ago

I think one’s channel is theirs to do whatever they want. If they want to sell stickers and pocket the money, then great. If they want to give it to charity, say like the DBA Foundation, well, now, that just makes them a better human being. πŸ˜‰ I think there are a few who got caught up in it. It’s just YouTube….YouTube. I can’t imagine what some would be like if they were actually, real life, famous. It’s fun to sit on the fence and watch, though. Great vid.

  • richindex96 7 years ago

I’m a fresh sub, but I agree with you totally. Good vlog mate. It’s weird that fact that a motovlogger I have recently in the past few days sub’d too, has ridden about 100 meters away from my street, might see you around town of Bracknell soon, look out for a WR125x

  • spacep0d 7 years ago

Agree with you 100% on the stickers thing. I’d be glad to take anyone on who thought I shouldn’t sell stickers. πŸ˜‰ Good vlog topic too.Somehow, people think it’s wrong to earn money from decals or vlogs, but why should that be? People will make money with all kinds of art, whether it’s movies, TV, vlogs, fine arts, music, comedy, etc.Great vlog there Weeem!’Find me on Facebook, if I haven’t blocked you.’ <--LAWL.

  • avowuntohisown 7 years ago

    I never comment on videos.

  • wyvernbiker 7 years ago

I like responding to comments but I can appreciate some of those that have 10’s of thousands of subs how difficult it would be to respond to everyone. unfortunately you can’t please everyone :o)

  • Tommy Twowheels 7 years ago

I would like more subs, but it’s not the end-all of my concerns. i do this for fun, not for fame.

  • DangleVonBallbag 7 years ago

Nice vlog Weeem. Frankly, I think the idea of a vlogger getting an inflated sense of worth once the sub count exceeds 4 figures is ridiculous. Regards, DangleVonBallbag. Dictated, not read.

  • theamazinbagman 7 years ago

I think i would be scared of being popular on youtube. and Wheem you sound so chilled out and smooth its nice

  • VulcanianTen 7 years ago

I don’t see what the fuss is about. If a channel has ads I will only subscribe if I believe the content is worth it. That is my choice and it is the risk vloggers may take. I am not going to moan about it. If you sell stickers and I want one, I will decide whether to get one based on my choices. If I think it is worth it then I will. That is my choice. If I think it is too expensive or don’t agree then I won’t buy one. Thats the risk the vlogger takes. Again, who am I to moan about it. Vloggers devote alot of time and effort and money too on this stuff so if soke need to recoup some of that then they should. Better that than losing the content because it is not worth it for the vlogger. Essay over.

  • The Gentleman Biker 7 years ago

I reckon a lot of people start getting asked for stickers etc. Then they go out and get some made. I don’t see a problem with charging for them as long as it’s not silly money. The people who want to buy them will buy them, the ones who don’t, won’t.Good topic mate.

  • Nat thatgirlonthebike 7 years ago

I’ve heard about this but never experienced it myself. 99% of videos I comment on, the vlogger replies. But then again I’m not a vlogger (yet!) so I wouldn’t know. Great video Weem, ride safe πŸ™‚

  • RoyalJordanian 7 years ago

Some take YouTube too seriously and start to compete, and that’s when I think it goes all wrong. To me, it’s a hobby, like many others over the years, it might fade and go away. The one thing I stopped doing some time ago is to thank people who commented something like Great vid, nice, etc… as that flooded the comment section and took tons of my time. If people don’t understand that, then it’s up to them. I still attempt to answer questions and comment on relevant posts, but It’s just not possible to answer every single question, especially the repeat ones. I still like to think I’m the same guy I was at 100 subs, some might think differently πŸ™‚

  • Steve WK 7 years ago

    Great stuff Weem πŸ™‚

  • suburbanryder - The Mayor - 7 years ago

99% of motovloggers are good people. I would be crushed if I got 250+ comments per video. Not at the people who comment, but the fact it would bother me thinking I might not be able to answer everyone back.I can also see the point that a few motovloggers get totally swamped with comments and questions. I purposely do not comment in that case, but at least they get the credit from my view. I don’t want to add to their burden of so many comments.I am in this mainly for the community and talking to my friends online and meetups. The rest is nice but I don’t have to have it.

  • Triumf Ant 7 years ago

Good points, Weeem. If the people who complain about popular vloggers not answering their questions, had to spend just one day replying to all the comments/questions that a popular vlogger receives, I’m sure they’d stop their whining. I can’t imagine how much time and effort it must take.

  • Blahdeblah52 7 years ago

Folks with Thousands of Subs who look down on Folks without…Are Idiots! It’s just YT, not like movie Stars ffs :-)I think, in this Community that doesn’t happen too much. I don’t really see it that often!Stickers… If folks want to buy them that is their choice. Not for me, but it’s personal choice and I’ve had a joke with it but overall, nowt to do with me or anyone else.Good topic Weem

  • SpinyBiker 7 years ago

Got to agree with you. Good subject for a blog and well put across.

  • ThreeStreets42 7 years ago

The way I see it, its your channel to do what you want to with it. If you have the support of people for doing what ever it is that you do, its your own business. If I don’t like it, I wont watch. Life is to short to be caught up in all the mickey mouse high school bull shit. If I get big, great! If I don’t that’s fine too. I just hope I will always be able to find the time to keep up with the comments and messages from people who watch my videos.

  • Thunderous71 7 years ago

Subs for me are just a way of knowing that some people out there like the crap I do… it’s a nice thing. But I honestly think and I may be naive here that people with a lot of subscribers do get flooded with comments and questions. So it’s impossible to acknowledge them all, I have a hard enough time with under 2k subs. As for money n stickers its all fair game, if you no like, no buy.

  • finnoctane 7 years ago

I think you’ve got it spot on, YouTube is mostly for fun and some people choose to make a business of it and that’s their choice. A huge amount of time and effort goes into content creation and for that reason the dislike button doesn’t exist for me.

  • Squeak Boulter 7 years ago

Despite being hard up and unemployed I don’t feel I can charge for my stickers, but that is just me. What annoys me though; is when you ask a serious question, or answer a question that is asked and get ignored, that IS rude; if you can’t answer, then don’t pose a question, However if I make a generic comment, I don’t mind not being answered.

Always enjoy your vids ride safe.

  • SouthernFried Tom 7 years ago

I personally don’t care about subs or likes or all that shit, I’m in it for the views. As long as people are watching what I put out then I’m not completely wasting my time. I had this conversation on my last videos comments, a guy stated he wouldn’t sub until he saw my bike on the road. A stupid argument because once my bike is on the road there will likely be no more content. I pointed out to him that whether he subbed or not didn’t matter as long as he watched. The person in question subbed shortly after. As for stickers, they’re great memorabilia, I don’t mind paying a few quid for stickers and I greatly appreciate being given free ones too. I give Spicy110 stick about charging for his stickers and not donating to charity but he does in fact donate his own earned cash on a regular basis. Whether someone wants to charge or not or even bother with them in the first place is there business and no one elses.
